Denise Taramasco is a free-lance artist working in the Northern Virginia area since 2006. A descendent of Peruvian and Uruguayan parents was born in Caracas-Venezuela and lived in urban Lima-Peru for 15 years. In 2006 she received a Communication Design Applied Science Associates Degree from Northern Virginia Community College. She is currently working on a Bachelors in Fine Arts at George Mason University were she studies Art and Visual Technology with a concentration in Painting. Throughout her educational and professional path, Taramasco has developed artistic skills in the areas of painting, graphic design, drawing, photography and sculpture.
Growing up with her grandmother, an Arts and Crafts teacher at a women’s correctional center, instilled in Taramasco a deep appreciation for Arts, people and her surroundings. Coming from a mixed heritage and being exposed to a city gifted with a wide variety of landscape (ranging from beach view to Mountain view), widely cultural, world wide known for its gourmet menu and with a diverse socio-economical and various ethnic population, arouse in Taramasco a innocent curiosity to learn and grasped from everything and everyone. Because of this, today her art is inspired by people and nature. Taramasco is a passionate artist with a voyager heart, who loves to travel. She always carries her camera and sketchbook to record new discoveries.
Awards and Exhibitions:
May 1993 – Earned Art Award for consistent effort, quality work, and striving for artistic excellence from Robinson High School Art Department.
May 2000 and 2001 – produced graphic design and painting exhibition at the Northern Virginia Community College
December 2008 – produced painting exhibition at George Mason University’s Alcove Gallery.
